It’s Sunday night. While I’m on my way home, I stopped at the intersection near my place. Red light. I was the only one in the lane, water drizzling over my shoulders and my helmet since it rained so hard today and the sky is still not done yet.
Looking at the red light seems a common everyday event to every motorist; I didn’t know that something would pop up in my head. While waiting, the other lane got the green light and I saw a shiny this million peso black Ford Raptor pass in front of my eyes and I am astonished because it was so huge but what caught my attention was what was in the back of this beautiful truck. There were 2 big bikes tied up securely. A big green Kawasaki Ninja 500cc and a 900cc black BMW. I find myself looking at it and following the truck while it’s making a safe left turn.
Now, just a little backstory of mine: I have been driving for almost 3 decades, mainly motorcycles. You can say that I have already driven and owned several types of motorcycles, from automatics like the Mio series of Yamaha to semi-automatics of Honda, and currently I am using a daddy unit like the Honda TMX 125.
But don’t belittle me, hah! I’ve tried Suzuki’s 750cc and a TRK 500 as well, but the only difference is that, even though I have owned several units before, I have never owned any of these luxury bikes, not even once. And even though I am content with what I am using as of now, I still can’t help but feel the urge to own at least one of these bikes before I leave this world.
Sometimes, I feel envious of other people who do not go to church all their lives but have all these kinds of luxury and stuff that they own. Let’s be realistic. You know the famous line that “Comparison is the killer of happiness”. It’s true, but most of the time, we are still humans. And even as a believer in Christ, I can’t help but still be envious of others whom I think God blessed more than me.
But does God really choose who He wants to bless? Does He randomly just send showers of blessings to people? Do you think that sometimes some people who do not believe in God are more blessed and capable than you?
Now let me tell you the things I have realized while waiting for that green light to come.
Realization 1:
WORKING HARD GETS REWARDED.
Whether you’re a Christian or not. There might be people who do not believe in God and have other beliefs, but are blessed because they work hard for what they have.
Even if someone just inherited rich things, someone still worked hard for it for their family and the next generations. So if you’re someone who believes in God and just waits for a job without applying, wake up because nothing will happen to you. Blessings do not fall automatically from the sky just because you prayed for it.
Realization 2:
GOD DOES NOT RANDOMLY CHOOSE WHOM HE WILL BLESS.
Knowing that God loves you and Jesus died for us is already like hitting a jackpot in the lottery; the big difference is, we do not pay for anything because it was given for free. We have to remember that the prize of being a Christian does not rely only on the material stuff of this world. Philippians 3:14 says, “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
As Christians and children of God, our eyes should focus on Jesus as the prize of our entire life on earth. For me, I believe that everything will be useless in the end if you do not know Jesus and His love for you, as what the famous John 6:33 says. Everything will follow as long as we seek Him first.
AGAIN, SEEK HIM FIRST AND HIS KINGDOM. And what’s the promise next?
EVERYTHING WILL BE ADDED TO YOU!
Now, going back to my situation, I don’t really care if I do not own a million-peso bike and can’t afford a thousand worth cup of coffee. I am currently happy with what I have now, even if it’s just a 37-peso French vanilla cappuccino in 7-Eleven and riding this daddy motorcycle that I have for 5 years now all around town because I can still bring my kids to school every day, go to my rehearsals and gigs, and most importantly, be there for the important people in my life when they need me.
The question now is, do I still pray and hope for the things I don’t have now? Absolutely! But what if my prayers won’t be answered in the future?

Have you ever stopped to appreciate how magnificent God must be when you look at His creation? The world around us reveals His power and wisdom, reminding us to give Him the honor He deserves instead of placing anything above Him.

Have you ever stopped to appreciate how magnificent God must be when you look at His creation? The world around us reveals His power and wisdom, reminding us to give Him the honor He deserves instead of placing anything above Him.

Your past does not have to define your future. God can free you from sin, restore your relationship with Him, and lead you toward His purpose as you put your faith in Jesus.

When you don’t know what to do, where do you turn? We can ask God for wisdom and help, trusting that He hears us even when the answer is not immediate. When doubt and temptation come, we can keep our faith strong and choose to surrender our desires to God instead of giving in.

Difficult seasons can make us focus on fear and uncertainty. But when we remember God’s faithfulness and the ways He has carried us through the past, we can face today with greater trust. His love is broad, His presence is constant, and He remains in control.

Life can bring moments when we feel afraid, confused, or unsure about what to do next. When circumstances become difficult, we can choose to keep our eyes on Jesus instead of allowing fear to control us.

Have you ever asked God, “Why am I going through this difficult situation when I am being obedient to You?” Life can sometimes take unexpected turns, leaving us confused, discouraged, and questioning God’s plan.
